A Slow November Gathering with Laura and Nora at St.Oak
Last Saturday we gathered at St. Oak Apartments in Germany for a slow and gentle 53rd edition of The Gatherists. Together with my dear friends Nora Eisermann and Laura Muthesius from Our Food Stories and Designtales, we welcomed an intimate group of guests for a cozy brunch. Many travelled from different parts of Germany, some from Berlin, and it felt meaningful to see everyone arrive at this quiet 1930s apartment overlooking the market square and its 200-year-old oak tree.
In collaboration with Lovely Linen & KINTO Europe.
The day before, we prepared the dining area and shaped a warm, minimal atmosphere that reflected the season — a hazelnut branch branch hanging above the table, some maroons and green branches between the plates. The table was dressed with light grey linen and natural napkins from our collaborators Lovely Linen, paired with the beige CLK tableware by KINTO Europe. Soft music and candlelight completed the calm setting.
Nora baked two gluten-free cakes for the morning: a cheesecake with caramel and hazelnuts, and my favourite — a pumpkin–pear cake she first made in 2017 when we gathered in their former studio in Berlin. That November memory stayed with me, so I asked if she would bake it again. We served coffee, herbal teas, fresh bread, cheeses, olives, and a few small dips. Guests found their places naturally: around the long table, in the kitchen for conversation, or on the sofa for a quieter moment. It was a grey November day, the kind where time moves slowly. Everyone arrived at 11 and stayed until almost 3, just as the early evening light began to settle in.
Looking back, I feel deeply grateful — for the morning itself, for the people who joined, our collaborators Lovely Linen and KINTO Europe, and for creating it together with Nora and Laura. Over the years we’ve shared many moments around tables across Europe, and this one felt especially warm and familiar in their St. Oak apartment, which felt like home.
Thank you again for this special edition. I hope to gather again in the new year!
