Ways of Seeing Workshop with Atelier CPH & By Mölle

Since starting my career as a freelance photographer, I’ve had the joy of teaching many workshops. It began with food photography, which came naturally after working in the studio of a culinary photographer and at Jamie Oliver Magazine. Over time, my focus shifted toward interior and lifestyle photography — for instance, last may teaching for Leica Akademie Nederland at the beautiful store of Pantoufle Design.

But my most recent workshop on October 25th took a different direction. It was a combination of photography and craft — using the camera as a tool to explore form and texture, and then translating those impressions into compositions made with linen fabrics.

The idea arose together with my friends from Atelier CPH, Mandy and Sara. Last year, I attended one of their workshops and they joined me as co-hosts of The Gatherists in Copenhagen. We stayed in touch and came up with the idea to create something together, this time in The Netherlands.

Atelier CPH often teaches workshops where participants work with materials such as paper, fabric, or wood. Their inspiration rarely comes from Pinterest or social media — instead, they find it in everyday surroundings: on the streets, in industrial buildings, or even in discarded materials. They observe patterns, shapes, and forms that become the foundation for their art compositions.

Together we developed a new concept — one that connects our disciplines: photography, art, and craft. We called it Ways of Seeing. My part focused on looking with fresh eyes — not at perfect scenes or styled settings, but at details, structure, and form (look for more more images here). Using these photographs as sketches, participants then created tactile compositions with the beautiful linen fabrics of By Mölle.

The workshop took place in By Mölle’s serene atelier and showroom, surrounded by shelves filled with natural fabrics in soft colours. Each participant selected their favourite tones and, with the gentle guidance of Sara, Mandy, and myself, transformed them into personal, layered artworks.

It was a day filled with inspiration, new perspectives, and the joy of working with your hands. I left feeling grateful for the shared creativity and connection — and I’m already looking forward to organising more workshops like this together with Sara and Mandy, hopefully next year in Copenhagen.
