The Gatherists — Amsterdam Edition | Wednesday November 11th, 2026
For the final edition of The Gatherists this year, I’m delighted to welcome you to the home of Agnes Sakai from Sakai Cooks.
Agnes and I met in late summer and quickly discovered how much we have in common. Our shared love for honest food, bringing people together and creating community made it feel natural to plan a gathering together. I’m very much looking forward to bringing this first collaboration to life.
Agnes is the founder of Sakai Cooks, a travelling culinary project rooted in food, culture and connection. Raised in Brazil with Japanese roots, she grew up around a table where food was a way of showing care and bringing people together — something she continues to carry into her work today.
For our gathering, Agnes will prepare a Japanese brunch with dashimaki tamago (Japanese rolled omelette), steamed rice (gohan) and seasonal Japanese pickles. I’ll bring some homemade sweet bakes to finish.
I look forward to sharing this morning with you, around the table in Agnes’s home in Amsterdam, for our final edition of the year.
